Appearance:
- Usually characterized by a thick cutaneous surface
- Can have a coarse aspect, resembling the skin of an orange
- Tendency to become sallow
- Thick with open follicular orifices
- Can have a yellowish tendency
- Can be sensitive
- Tendency to comedones, miliae and pustule formation
- The clogged, oily skin type can be sensitive and flaky.
- Usually ages slower than a thinner skin (if not abused environmentally),
as it doesn't dry out as easily.
Touch:
- Feels greasy and wet
- May feel thick and coarse
- The clogged, oily skin type feels rough
The condition described above is that of a typical oily skin of genetic origin.
An individual with a finer skin without the follicular orifice enlargement,
although normally not oily, may experience some oiliness during the course of
her life. This may occur during adolescence and last until menopause. During
this period she may experience a temporary flare-up, usually of a hormonal nature, induced by stress and/or incorrect diet.

- Over-secretion of the sebaceous glands
- Intoxication by organic waste products
Causes
- Genetic

- Atmospheric conditions (heat, humidity)
- Comedogenic products
- Incorrect, insufficient cleansing
