Exercise: Health For The Body And Skin

Exercising has many benefits. It’s good for the heart, builds muscle, controls weight, manages blood sugar and insulin level, improves mental health, and more. For many like myself, I knew of all the cardiovascular and mental benefits, but I never thought twice about how it affects my skin. Did you know that exercising can have beauty benefits as well?

Glowing Complexion

Exercising improves blood flow and increased oxygen and nutrients to the skin’s surface. Increased blood circulation flushes waste products and free radicals from healthy cells. Although the liver is responsible for the majority of the detoxing occurring in the body, sweating from exercising also helps to remove toxins from the body for a glowing complexion.

Anti-aging

Not only will you feel healthier, but exercising also has some anti-aging benefits. Some studies have shown that exercising can slow down the aging process and sometimes even reverse it. Working out promotes collagen production and improves the reparative properties between skin and muscle for a more toned appearance.

Clearer Skin

Some may think that exercising exacerbates breakouts, but it can actually help with stress-related acne. Being active releases endorphins and serotonin to lessen the level of stress hormones. Those with eczema flare-ups resulting from stress may also see improvement in their skin condition.

Hair Growth

Exercising improves the blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles, and supplies nutrients to the hair follicles to promote hair growth and control hair loss. Oxygen and antioxidant-rich blood flow prevent follicles from clogging and combats against free radicals. Stress also causes hair loss. Exercising to reduce stress helps with hair loss resulting from stress.
